why does Robert Venditti think that Ystin uses female pronouns though
where did he even get that idea
why has no one corrected him
In all fairness, Ystin himself never does, but his teammates have always gotten it wrong. I can deal with Vandal Savage never moving passed the whole “I’m both” thing, but I wish Ex would get with the program already.
Grr. This panel in the latest Demon Knights irritated me. Because, um, excuse me—
Atla, having just met the Knights, doesn’t know what Ystin’s preferred pronoun is, but Ex sure as hell does. Having her refer to her former lover as “she” when Ystin has specifically identified with masculine pronouns? Bulllllshit.
Yeah, I feel like Venditti is probably just following in Cornell’s footsteps since he always had everyone refer to Ystin as ‘she.’ I would hope that Ex of all people would know better by this point, though.
Of course, while Yeoh is the first trans character for a capes-and-tights book, she’s not strictly the first trans character in the mainstream or at DC. In the ’90s, both Lord Fanny from Grant Morrison’s “The Invisibles” and Wanda Mann from Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” are both easily identified as transgender, though their debuts didn’t garner the attention this one has due to their removal from big time movie and toy franchise characters.
